New 4-H youth leadership in Allamakee County

The Allamakee County Youth Committee proudly announces the appointment of 15 youth in grades 9-12 to the 2009-2010 4-H County Council. The Council is responsible for several citizenship and leadership projects throughout the year, including the Junior Halloween Party, Youth Lock-In, Waukon Easter Egg Hunt and collecting items for the American Red Cross. Leading the group are advisors Teresa Myers, Marci Vinsand, and Kris Fahey.
Several youth will continue to serve as leaders in the Allamakee County 4-H Program. They include: Morgan Heim, daughter of Tom and Bev Heim of New Albin; Morgan Mahoney, daughter of Brian and Suzy Mahoney of Waukon; Abby Myers, daughter of Mike and Teresa Myers of Waukon; Erin Troendle, daughter of George and Susan Troendle of Waukon;  Caleb Opperman, son of George and Amy Opperman of Waukon; Paige Watkins, daughter of Dwight and Michelle Watkins of Waukon;  Bobbi Jo Wild, daughter of Bob and Bonnie Wild of Lansing; and Brooke Wild, daughter of Randy and Louise Wild of Lansing.
New faces to the Council include: Taji Ahouse, daughter of Ed and Marlene Ahouse of Waukon; Sean Collins, son of Mike and Teri Collins of Harpers Ferry; Brittany Johnson, daughter of Rob and Lynn Johnson of Waukon; Theresa Lensing, daughter of Denis and Clara Lensing of Postville; Leeta Sivesind, daughter of Dan and Jane Sivesind of Waukon; Taylor Troendle, daughter of Glenn Troendle and Brad and Kim Yohe of Waterville; and Abby Weighner, daughter of Tom and Angela Weighner of Dorchester.
The 4-H County Council is hosting two upcoming winter outings for area youth. The Winter Wonderland Dance is Monday, December 28 at the Allamakee County Pavilion for youth in sixth, seventh and eighth grades from 7-10 p.m. Admission includes pizza and snacks. Youth are encouraged to enter the “Ugliest Holiday Sweater Contest.” A prize will be awarded to the first-place winner.
Youth in grades seventh, eighth and ninth are invited to attend the Youth Lock-In held at the Cresco Fitness Center starting at 7 p.m. Friday, January 22 and ending at 8 a.m. Saturday, January 23. Cost includes bus transportation, food, and admission. Pre-registration is required.
