Allamakee Dollars for Scholars breakfast Friday
Allamakee Dollars for Scholars will hold a Recognition Breakfast this Friday, Apr. 15 at 7:30 a.m. in the Waukon Senior High School Cafeteria. The breakfast is being held to thank individual and group donors - all of whom are invited to the event, and to introduce student applicants - who, along with their parents, will be special guests.
Reservations are not necessary for the breakfast, but would be appreciated and may be made with Amy Wasson at 568-3466 or Julie Rotach at 568-3754.
Spring clean-up for rural residents is Tuesday, April 19
Allamakee Rural Recycling will be having their spring cleanup day Tuesday, April 19. This event is for rural residents of Allamakee County only. The hours for this event are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and it will be held at the Recycling Center two miles north of Waukon on Hwy 9.
Items taken during these hours are chairs, sofas, household items and white goods, such as refrigerators, freezers, stoves, etc. There will be a $10 charge for all appliances. Other items taken are oil and batteries. Tires and paint will not be taken.
Paint can be disposed of by residents in their regular garbage if the paint is hardened. Simply take the lid off of the paint and leave it outside in a well ventilated area to harden.

Disabled American Veterans meeting The Disabled American Veterans
Hamre-Giesen Chapter #8 holds monthly meetings at the All Vets Club in Decorah, beginning at 11 a.m. The meeting for April will be held Wednesday, April 20.
Attending meetings will give disabled veterans and their families updates on available benefits. Anyone wishing to attend the meetings but unable to secure transportation may contact Commander Erik Nykannen at (563)535-5430 or erikn@acegroup.cc.
