Participants sought for Iowa Senior Olympics

The Iowa Senior Olympics will be held on June 9-12, 2005, in West Des Moines. Don’t be a spectator; join us for the action. You’re never too old to play!

The Iowa Senior Olympics is a four-day Olympic-style sporting event for men and women age 50 and older, with more than 55 events and competition in ten age categories. Athletes must be 50 years old on or before Dec. 31, 2005, to compete. Gold, silver, and bronze medals will be awarded in each age bracket for every event!

Recently added events which will be held again this year include a scrabble tournament, 5K and 10K non-competitive walk at Raccoon River and a 5K and 10K road race (held June 18 in conjunction with the Clive Running Festival).

To compete, be sure to pick up a registration form at your local Casey’s General Store, YMCA, or Bankers Trust location. Forms can also be downloaded at www.iowaseniorolympics.org. Save $5 by returning your entries by May 20.

If you aren’t 50 years old but still want to get involved, please consider volunteering. Volunteers are needed for all four days. Download the form from our website or contact Dan Lake at (515)633-5011 or email at laked@wdmcs.org.
