Snowmobile Safety Class hosted by Allamakee County Conservation Board

Despite single digit temperatures, over 30 people participated and completed the annual snowmobile safety class conducted by the Allamakee County Conservation Board in Harpers Ferry January 9. During the class students experienced a combination of class room presentations and outdoor hands-on instruction. Topics included snowmobile maintenance and mechanical operation, laws and regulations, first aid, and safe operation procedures when on the trail.
Assisting the Conservation Board in presenting the class were members from the Allamakee County Sno-Blazers Snowmobile Club, and staff from Waukon Power Sports. Also assisting were staff members from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) Parks and Law Enforcement Divisions. Due to school athletic events being held at the same time as the snowmobile class, a number of students were not able to attend the safety class.
A reminder to those interested in obtaining snowmobile safety certification, view the IDNR webpage http://www.iowadnr.gov/ to obtain information on how to complete a home study course.
