Sophomore boys down Waverly-Shell Rock, 73-66

Waukon came out ahead in a foul-filled contest Friday, Feb. 11, at Waverly-Shell Rock.
Waukon trailed early in the contest, falling behind 17-14 after one period and trailing even more at the half, 43-32.
Fortunes began to change in the second half as the Indians managed to take a 57-50 advantage after three frames. The Tribe held on to the momentum to score the 73-66 victory.
Thirty-five of Waukon's points came at the free throw line as the Go-Hawks committed a whopping 33 fouls in the contest. The Tribe fouled their hosts on 26 occasions, as well, making for a contest filled with trips to the charity stripe.
Vaughn Gesing led the Indians with 22 points. Shawn Bjerke finished with 17 while Will Kramer added 11 and Derek Snitker sank ten.
Bjerke led the Indians with ten rebounds while Gesing ripped down nine.
Kramer handed out three assists.
Snitker and Gesing each grabbed a pair of steals.
Andrew Snitker blocked three shots in the win and Russell ReVoir denied another Go-Hawk attempt.
