From the Superintendent's Desk

The constituents of the Eastern Allamakee Community School District have bragging rights on the schools 2003/2004 test results. The state of Iowa has just released the results of the 2003/2004 testing program for all of the schools in the state of Iowa. Student achievement scores in mathematics and reading at the fourth and eighth grade levels were released on a district-district basis. The results show the percentage of students that are proficient in these two areas in fourth and eighth grades. Eastern Allamakee's scores were 83% for fourth grade reading, 81% for fourth grade math, 75% for eighth grade reading and 83% for eighth grade math.
Because of the high scores for the students at the Eastern Allamakee Community School District, it was decided to do some comparing. Twenty school districts were identified in Northeast Iowa and the scores compared. In the fourth grade reading we ranked fifth out of the twenty, in the fourth grade math we ranked seventh out of twenty, in the eighth grade reading we ranked fourth out of twenty and in the eighth grade math we ranked third out of twenty. This gives us an overall average ranking of fourth out of twenty for the four tests.
I personally feel that we can be proud of the scores our students achieved. My hat goes off to the students and to their teachers for the excellent test results.
