Surprise party will note Nierling’s 85th birthday

Rosella (Mellick) Nierling will celebrate her 85th birthday with a surprise party Sunday, April 24, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Tom Rowles, in rural Oxford near Iowa City. The celebration will begin at 1 p.m. and continue into the evening.
Rosella Mellick was born April 18, 1920. She grew up in the Waukon area and married Arthur Nierling in 1942. They later moved to Cedar Rapids, where she has lived for more than 50 years. Arthur Nierling died in 1963. Rosie has four children: Judy (Tom) Rowles, Don Nierling of Chicago, Ill., Jan Nierling (Perry Paltz) of Houston, Texas, and Dan (Patty) Nierling of Waterloo.
The birthday celebration is open to all friends and relatives, but please, no gifts!
