Visioning for the Future survey to begin in Waukon and surrounding area September 23

A community survey to gather public input on important local issues will be distributed to randomly selected households in the Allamakee Community School District area starting Monday, September 23. This survey is being led by the Waukon Works Committee in partnership with Iowa State University Community Economic Development Extension. A 12-member steering committee of local leaders is overseeing this project.
Gathering public input is a very important part of developing a plan for the future. In order to develop a plan that will be owned and utilized by the community, the Waukon Works Committee is asking for public input, such as this survey, all throughout the planning process.
Surveys will go out to 500 households in the Allamakee Community School District area, selected randomly by Iowa State University from households within the four contiguous communities around Waukon.
Fifty volunteers will be taking surveys out and leaving them at the selected households, and then returning later at a mutually agreed upon time to pick up the completed surveys, or recipients may themselves drop off the surveys at Waukon Greenhouse located at 27 Spring Avenue in downtown Waukon.
It is asked that all households that receive a survey take the time to complete it, a process that should take about 20 minutes. Input from the entire community is needed on important local issues like housing, economic development, downtown, school system, basic services, etc. in this community.
Once all the completed surveys are returned to the Waukon Greenhouse, they will be sent to Iowa State University, where they will be opened and tabulated. Iowa State University specialists will report the results of the survey to the Waukon Works steering committee, and those results will also be shared with the community and the local media.
Anyone with questions about the survey can contact Nora Ladjahasan at nading@iastate.edu or 515-294-0734.
