Waukon man charged in connection with meth lab


Jones-
Justin L. Jones, 20, of Waukon, was found guilty of a pair of charges after he admitted to using a methamphetamine lab on property south of Waukon.
According to the report, the Allamakee County Sheriff’s Department had property on Cooks Road under surveillance after a hunter found a meth lab. At approximately 3 a.m. April 24, 2004, Jones was seen leaving the property. He was pulled over shortly after and took the deputy to the site of the lab and admitted to manufacturing the drug twice. He also led the deputy to a back pack containing precursors to methamphetamine.
Jones pleaded guilty to trespassing and possession of paraphernalia. He was fined $100 on each count.


Solis-
Zacaria Solis, 26, Postville, was fined after he pled guilty to a charge of criminal mischief in the third degree. The Postville police department responded to a Nov. 6, 2004, call of vandalism at 210 State Drive. Witnesses on the scene reported that a passenger of a red Dodge van had broken the windows of a car with a baseball bat. The van and bat were located and Solis admitted that the vehicle was his. Solis was identified by witnesses, and paint on the bat matched that of the damaged car.
Solis pleaded guilty to criminal mischief in the third degree and was fined $500 and ordered to pay restitution.


Swehla-
Travis R. Swehla, 19, Decorah, was found guilty of driving while barred as a habitual offender.
On Dec. 18, 2004, a Waukon police officer recognized Swehla’s car and stopped the vehicle as he knew he was barred from driving. Someone else was driving the vehicle and police released them. Later, police were informed that the vehicle’s plates were expired. The vehicle was pulled over again and this time Swehla was driving. The vehicle also contained several cans and bottles of alcohol. Swehla was charged with driving while barred, operating without insurance, operating without registration, and possessing alcohol under the legal age. After pleading guilty to driving while barred, Swehla was fined $500. Additional charges were dismissed.
