Waukon Wellness Center progresses

Excitement is growing as the construction of the Waukon Wellness Center progresses. Walls are up, much of the roof is on and there are many questions to be answered about the Center. This series is an attempt to answer some of those questions and will appear every other week in The Standard.

What is the Waukon Wellness Center?

• The new Waukon Wellness Center is a city-owned, membership-supported facility designed to provide recreation and to improve and maintain the health of this community.

• The Center will include several exercise areas as well as a senior citizen center, teen center, and an office for the Park & Recreation director.

Where is the Waukon Wellness Center?

• The center is located across the street, to the south, of Waukon Senior High School.

• This building is attached to the new Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC) building also under construction. The Waukon Wellness Center is the much larger, taller part of the construction.

What will the outside of the Waukon Wellness Center look like?

• The main part of the building will be metal.

• Brick will cover the west portion of the building.

• Exterior colors will blend with the exterior of the other buildings.
