Zahariev scores 1,000 points

Erin Zahariev of Hamburg, N.Y., reached a milestone in her basketball career this past February. She scored her 1,000th career point Feb. 8 in front of her home crowd. Zahariev has started on the varsity squad since her freshman year. Coach DeJohn stated that Zahariev’s feat was a huge success since the team’s offense is not centered on her, but spread throughout the squad.

Zahariev will play college basketball at John Carroll University. She is the daughter of Vieden and Gerry (Van Horn) Zahariev of Hamburg and the niece of Kathy Snitker, Jim and Lindy Howes, and Sandy Van Horn.
