Home ›Farm Bureau Leaders attend legislative trip to Qashington, D.C.
More than 80 Iowa Farm Bureau leaders took part in a trip to Washington, D.C., March 14-17 to lobby lawmakers on topics such as re-opening the border to Canadian cattle imports, the energy bill, and taxes. They also had the opportunity to voice their concerns over proposed farm program budget cuts.
Those participating in the trip included, from left: Duane Flatland, Waukon; Brian Dougherty, Waukon; Irene Lund, Elma; Linda Druecker, Arlington; and Phil Hemesath, IFBF District I director from Calmar.
In addition to meeting with the Iowa congressional delegation, the group also met with Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns, Kansas Senator Pat Roberts and Missouri Representative Roy Blunt during a joint meeting with the Nebraska, Kansas and Missouri Farm Bureaus
