The Environmental College for Young Leaders (ECYL) is a one-week environmental education, summer enrichment program organized by the Environmental Studies program at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa.
Using the Luther campus and facilities, as well as surrounding natural areas, Environmental College instructors teach half-day and full-day classes to students in grades 3rd through 8th. The program provides learning opportunities that are experiential, hands-on, interdisciplinary, and fun. Curriculum focuses on the environment and our relationship to it, complementing and expanding upon topics covered in the schools.
The Environmental College for Young Leaders (ECYL) will host this weeklong summer program at Luther College in Decorah, June 20-24, for students age 7-14.

Environmental instructors from various professional and educational backgrounds will cover a wide range of topics including ornithology, woodworking, orienteering, camp survival skills, and aquatics.

Courses will take place between 12:30 and 4:15 p.m., and will be divided into three grade levels: 3rd-4th, 5th-6th, and 7th-8th. The total cost for registration is $80, which includes course fees, materials, t-shirts, and snacks.
ECYL scholarships are available in amounts up to $60. Scholarship applications are available at the ECYL website or at schools northeast Iowa and southeast Minnesota.
