Ruth Carolyn Regan was born November 5, 1909, in Waukon, Iowa, the daughter of Peter John and Hazel June (Cowan) Regan. She graduated from Waukon High School in 1928.
On November 28, 1929, she married Leslie Lloyd Bauercamper. They spent their entire lives in Waukon where Ruth was a homemaker and an active member of Zalmona Presbyterian Church and its Sarah Circle. Ruth was devoted to her family throughout her life. After her parents moved to Chicago, she took her children to visit them every summer. Later, her mother moved back to Waukon and Ruth cared for her for several years. She not only tended to the household needs of her husband and children, but was an excellent cook and made sure everyone was treated to their favorite dishes often. After her children moved away, she loved traveling to visit them and treasured every moment she got to spend with her grandchildren. Ruth was also a fan of jigsaw puzzles, liked music and dancing, appreciated fine chocolates, and enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends.
