Allamakee County absentee voting

Monday, November 7 from 8am – 5pm.  5 pm Monday is the last time someone can come in and fix an unsigned or otherwise defective ballot.

Polling sites will be open on November 8, 2016 from 7am until 9pm.

Through November 4, there have been 2,960 absentee ballots requested either in-office or by mail

283 (10%) of requested absentee ballots have not yet been returned. Please remember if you requested an absentee ballot by mail, your returned ballot MUST be postmarked by November 7. If your ballot is received after election day and is not postmarked, it cannot be counted.  You may want to consider asking the post office to manually postmark your ballot when you mail it.

Absentee ballots can also be hand delivered to the Auditor’s office until 9pm on Election Day.

Absentee votes do get counted at every election.  Absentee ballots that are received and signed and sealed properly are counted on election day. Voters who return an absentee ballot that is not signed or sealed properly are contacted by the Auditors office and given the opportunity to correct the issue. Monday, November 7 at 5pm is the last time to fix these ballots.

Contact the Allamakee Auditor’s office at 563-568-3522 with any questions about election registration, voting or the election process.
