The Kee volleyball team took another thrilling step down the postseason tournament trail, taking fans on yet another rollercoaster ride to the brink of yet another history-making possibility for Kee High School. In their Class 1A Region 5 semifinal match at 10th-rated Dunkerton Thursday, October 26, the Hawks swept the first two sets of the match, 27-25 and 25-20, but then suffered losses of 16-25 and 20-25 to bring the match to a decisive fifth set, where the Kee netters once again appeared to have their season on the ropes, but battled their way back once again to secure the set-five win, 15-10, and the match victory.
Improving to a 21-14 match record, the volleyball Hawks were next scheduled to play Tuesday, October 31 in the Region 5 championship match for the right to play in the Class 1A State Tournament. The Kee netters will be matched up against Class 1A seventh-rated Tripoli, a team sporting a 24-13 match record. That match was scheduled to be played at Crestwood High School in Cresco, beginning at 7 p.m., with the winner advancing on to that season grand finale to be played November 7-10 at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids.
