Lansing City Council renews contract with People Service; search underway for new police officer

by Macie Hill

The regular meeting of the Lansing City Council was held Monday evening, March 5. Discussion centered around the renewal of the People Service contract, more rocks and concrete being placed near the Lansing Marina and a new position for a Lansing Police Officer being available.

Dennis White, regional manager for People Service, Inc., was at the meeting to ask the council to consider the renewal of the contract with People Service, Inc. for water and wastewater services provided for the City of Lansing. After further discussion by the council, a motion was made and seconded to approve the 2018 renewal of the contract with People Service, Inc.

Jason Drape, operator of the Lansing Marina, was present at the meeting to request that there be more rocks put where the bank has washed away between some of the docks and that a new slab of concrete be laid on the north end of the Marina, paid at his expense. A motion was made and seconded for approval to complete those projects.

The City of Lansing is now accepting applications to hire a new Lansing Police Officer. The new officer will replace former officer Lucas Inglett, who is taking an officer position with the Waukon Police Department.
