After sitting idle for two consecutive weeks, the Waukon boys and girls bowling teams finally resumed action Friday, February 1 with their Parents Night home match against Denver. Both the girls and boys squads made the most of that display in front of their parents, sweeping the visiting Cyclones by a 1968-1776 count for the girls and a 2555-2260 result for the boys.
The Waukon bowling boys now hold a 5-2 record and the girls sport a 3-4 mark. Within the past weeks, the Indians were supposed to also have bowled at Oelwein January 18 but had that match first postponed to January 29 and now again to Friday, February 8. A Friday, January 25 home match with Sumner-Fredericksburg has also been rescheduled to Tuesday, February 5. After competing in an individual tournament at Waverly-Shell Rock this Saturday afternoon, February 9, the bowling Tribe will then begin postseason tournament play Tuesday, February 12 in Dubuque, details of which can be found in a shaded box elsewhere on the Sports pages in the February 6 print and e-edition of The Standard.
