The Allamakee Community School District (ACSD) Board of Directors met for a special meeting Friday, October 2. The board approved the hiring of Jared Estebo as a custodian for West Elementary School. The board also approved the resignations of West Elementary custodian Jason Dahlstrom and Waukon High School night custodian Luke Zezulka. The board also gave its approval to a proposal from Grundmeyer Leader Search in the amount of $16,460.20 for Superintendent search services, following the announcement last month by ACSD Superintendent Jay Mathis that he will be retiring at the end of this school year.

The ACSD Board met for its regular monthly meeting Monday, October 19. Board members Jesse Delaney and John Palmer were absent. Under the Consent Agenda, the following personnel were approved (pending a satisfactory background check): Ron Troendle as substitute route bus driver, Jeff Hilleshiem as Waukon High School night custodian, Ben Pline as assistant varsity baseball coach, and Frank Weymiller as volunteer wrestling coach.

The board also accepted the resignation of Mataya Sommer from her paraprofessional position. Six open enrollments out of the district were also approved, as was the renewal of the Waukon Wrestling Club Facility Usage Agreement and updates to the Student Handbook.

During the Communications time, Tami Gebel addressed the board members regarding the Allamakee Music Boosters. She explained a little bit about the Music Boosters and what the group does, as well as thanked the board for its support.
