The Waukon City Council met in regular session the evening of Monday, October 20th with thirteen regular business items to address. All Councilmen were in attendance.

Board of Supervisors holds regular Monday session

The Allamakee County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Monday, October 20 with Chairman Lennie Burke and Dave Duncklee in attendance. Supervisor Kathy Campbell was absent, but was contacted by phone for a discussion of the location of the County Attorney's office. County Attorney Mary Jane White had previously requested that she be allowed to maintain an office in her home, but it was the consensus of the Board that the County Attorney's office should be located in the courthouse. The details of that arrangement have yet to be determined.

Birth: Belverud

Craig and April Belverud of Waukon are pleased to announce the birth of their son, Jaxson David, October 1, 2008 at Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah. He weighed 7 lbs., 2 ozs. and was 19 1/2 inches long at the time of his birth. He joins his older sister, Lexie (5).

Grandparents are David and Maxine Balk of Waucoma and Gary and Tammy Belverud of Decorah. Great-grandparents are Cliff and Charlotte Christianson of Waukon.

Birth: Dahl

Samantha Thiele and Kyle Dahl of Decorah are happy to announce the birth of their daughter, Madison Elizabeth Dahl, October 8, 2008 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. She weighed 7 lbs., 13.5 ozs. at the time of her birth.

Grandparents are Leslie and Cheryl Dahl of Decorah and Maxine and Ronald Thiele of Waukon.

Birth: Murray

Steve and Nicole Murray of West Union are delighted to announce the birth of their son, Ethan William, September 28, 2008 at Palmer Lutheran Health Center in West Union. He weighed 9 lbs., 1 3/4 ozs. and was 21 1/2 inches long at the time of his birth.

Grandparents are Steve and Jolene Wurtzel of Waukon, Lynette Corkery of Whiting and Bill and Joann Murray of Ryan. Great-grandparents are Francis Murray and the late Maybel Murray of Manchester, the late Beriah and Ethel Kenny of Ryan, Donna Wurtzel and the late Truman Wurtzel of Waukon and Shirley and Bob Heimer of Waukon.

Egan, Mennen joined in marriage June 21

Kelli Jo Egan of Urbandale and Jeffrey Brett Mennen of Des Moines were joined in marriage June 21 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Waukon. Officiating at the ceremony were Father Joseph Schneider and Msgr. Ed Lechtenberg.

The bride, given away by her father, is the daughter of Joe and Mary Egan of Waterville and the granddaughter of Leota Pfiffner of Waukon, Myrtle Egan of Harpers Ferry and Rodney and Becky Lorentzson of Cotton, MN.

The groom is the son of Terry and Janet Mennen of Parkersburg and the grandson of Lester and Jeanette Mennen of Ackley.

Weymiller, Gibbs joined in marriage June 28

Angela Marie Weymiller of New Albin and David Arnel Gibbs of Waterville were joined in marriage June 28 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon with Pastor Jim Olsen officiating.

Parents of the bride are David and Laure Weymiller of New Albin. Parents of the groom are Mike and Cindy Gibbs of Waterville.

Tylsland, Moldenhauer to wed November 1

Tanya Tysland of Waukon and Troy Moldenhauer of La Crescent, MN are happy to announce their engagement and upcoming wedding. They plan to exchange vows November 1 at Old West Paint Creek Lutheran Church, rural Waukon. A reception will be held following the ceremony at the Fairgrounds Pavilion in Waukon.

Fahey, Wood to wed November 7

Eileen Fahey and Duane Wood, both of Waukon, are happy to announce their engagement and upcoming wedding. The ceremony is scheduled to take place November 7 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hanover.

The bride-elect is the daughter of the late Paul and Jean Fahey. She is a 1986 graduate of Waukon Senior High School and works for TASC, Inc. and City Club Inn in Waukon.

The groom-elect is the son of Mary Lou Wood and Kenneth Wood. He is a 1978 graduate of Waukon Senior High School and is self-employed as a carpenter for Wood is Good Construction in Waukon.

Kemps to celebrate 50th anniversary Oct. 25

Lou and Jan Kemp of Harpers Ferry will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary October 25 with a family dinner. They were married October 25, 1958 at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Springfield, MN.

They have three sons, Steve and Donna (Josh and Keith) of La Crosse, WI, Tom and Judy (Ian, Jordan and Max) of Decorah and Mark and Dawn of Longmont, CO.
