Photos may be included for an additional charge of $15 (additonal photos are also $15). Obituaries of excessive length (longer than our single-column length of 15.5") will also incur an additional charge of $11/column inch for the content measuring longer than our 15.5-inch column length. Sharon Weymiller

Sharon Ann Weymiller, 76, of New Albin passed away peacefully Monday, October 19, 2015 at Thornton Manor surrounded by her family. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, October 23 at St. Peter Community Christian Church, New Albin, with Rev. William Reese as the Officiant. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery, New Albin. Visitation will be Thursday, October 22 from 4-7 p.m. at the New Albin Community Center, New Albin and one hour before services at the church Friday.
Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Lansing is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given in memory of Sharon Weymiller to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org).

Lorna Fruechte

Lorna M. Fruechte, 88, of Waukon died Sunday, October 4, 2015 at Northgate Care Center in Waukon. Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 20 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon, with Rev. Lynn G. Groe officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery, Waukon.
Lorna Marie Fruechte was born October 24, 1926 in Waukon, the daughter of Charles August and Marie Althea (Nelson) Herman. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Waukon. Lorna graduated from Waukon High School and completed junior college. After graduation, she work at Schultz Brothers Variety Store in Waukon until she married Ernest Donald Fruechte. The couple married August 8, 1959 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They made their home in Landmark (between Waukon and Lansing) before moving into Waukon in 1963. During the 1970s and 80s, Lorna worked part-time as a secretary for the Interstate Producers Livestock Association.

Lorraine Koenig

Lorraine Koenig, 95, of Frankville died Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at Good Samaritan Society, Postville. Funeral Services were held Saturday, October 17 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, with Rev. Dave Lenth and Rev. Jack Gannett as the Officiants. Burial followed at Salem Cemetery, rural Waukon.
Lorraine Marion Henning was born February 28, 1920 on a farm in Ludlow Township to Theodore and Emma (Grotegut) Henning. She attended rural school in Ludlow Township #4 through the eighth grade and ninth and tenth grade in Frankville.

Bernard Bresnahan

Bernard F. Bresnahan, 86, of Waukon died Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, WI. Funeral services were held Saturday, October 17 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon with Rev. Msgr. Cletus Hawes, Fr. Donald Hawes, Rev. Msgr. Ed Lechtenberg and Deacon Mike Ward officiating. Burial was at St. Mary's Hanover Cemetery, rural Waukon.
Bernard Francis Bresnahan was born January 2, 1929 on the family farm in the Silver Creek area of rural Waukon. His parents were Frank and Margaret (O’Brien) Bresnahan. Bernard attended the rural Makee School for elementary and St. Patrick High School in Waukon; although he had to quit classes to help out on the farm during the Depression.

Dorothy Collins

Dorothy J. Collins, 84, of Cedar Rapids passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha. A Funeral Mass to send Dorothy home was held Monday, October 19 at St. Ludmila Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, with Father Dennis Juhl officiating. Burial was at St. Joseph Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Dorothy was born April 14, 1931 on the farm just outside of Waukon. She was the fifth child of Florence (Quillan) and Leo Burns. She graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in Waukon and married Tom Collins May 15, 1951. After Tom returned from serving in Korea in 1954, they settled in Cedar Rapids. Dorothy went to work at Square D, where she stayed for 35 years while raising four not always angelic sons. She retired in 1994.

Mark Mauss

Mark G. Mauss, 101, of Waukon died Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 19 at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon, with Rev. Msgr. Cletus Hawes, Fr. Donald Hawes and Deacon Mike Ward officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Waukon. Friends may call from 3-6 p.m. Sunday, October 18 at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, where there will be a 2:45 p.m. scripture service.
Mark George Mauss was born April 19, 1914 in the Gruber Ridge area, rural New Albin, the son of George and Florence (Hammel) Mauss. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in New Albin and graduated from New Albin High School.

Jean (Eadie) Fish

Jean E. (Eadie) Fish of Oconomowoc, WI passed away peacefully Saturday, October 3, 2015 at the age of 69. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Ronald Fish. She was a loving mother to Brian (Aimee) of Brodhead, WI and Blaine (Ashley) of Ixonia, WI. Jean loved her family and adored her four grandchildren, Anna, Kirsten, Mikenna and Layton.
Jean is also survived by three siblings, Karan Labonne, Elaine Eadie and John Eadie. In addition, she is survived by her best friend, Betty Schomer, and many other loving and supportive friends and neighbors who were there for her throughout her battle with cancer.
Jean enjoyed many trips abroad, most notably to Germany, and built many lasting friendships on these trips. She delighted in sharing her knowledge of Europe with others and sharing stories of her travels with friends and family.

Jerry Custer

Jerry D. Custer, 76, of Lansing, formerly of Davenport, died Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at Thornton Manor in Lansing. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, October 14 at 11 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, with Deacon Pat Malanaphy officiating. Friends may call one hour before the services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Crossing Rivers Hospice or to the family.
Jerry David Custer was born to Raymond and Helen (Potwin) Custer in Charles City July 25, 1939. He graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1957. Jerry married Jackie Oelberg in 1959, and they were later divorced. He then married Sandra Freeman in 1973, and they were also later divorced.

Rev. Richard Iles

The Reverend Richard A. “Dick” Iles, 73, of Mt. Pleasant died Friday, October 9, 2015 at the Sunrise Terrace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Winfield. The funeral service for Richard Iles will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 14 at the First United Methodist Church, Mount Pleasant. The Reverend Deborah J. Stowers will officiate. Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Henry County Honor Guard.
