Hagers to celebrate 60th anniversary

The children and grandchildren of Gerald and Marlys Hager will host an open house to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary Sunday, September 28 from 2:30-4:30 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Castalia. A program will be presented at 3 p.m. The couple requests no gifts.

Heath and Stephanie Kelley of Waukon announce the birth of their son, Ethan Todd Kelley, September 7, 2014 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. He weighed 10 lbs., 8.6 ozs. and measured 22 inches in length at the time of his birth. He joins three siblings, Gracelyn (4), Clayton (3) and Lillian (1).
Grandparents are Todd and Rhonda Snitker of Waukon and Jerry and Tammy Wyman of Atlantic. Great-grandparents are Larry and Sharon Snitker of Waukon, Richard and Kathleen Kelley of Lyman, Larry and Judy Warnke of Sumner and Ron and Kay Wohlenhaus of Atlantic.

Leiran, Horns to wed Sept. 27

Larre and Brenda Leiran of Waukon announce the engagement and upcoming wedding of their daughter, Brittany Lea Leiran of Waukon, to Michael John Horns of Waukon, son of the late Myron and Melon Horns. The couple plans to exchange vows September 27 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon. A reception will follow the ceremony at the Waukon Banquet Center.
The bride-elect is currently employed in Retail Management in La Crosse, WI. The groom-elect is currently employed as the Sales Manager at R.W. Pladsen, Inc.71 in Waukon.

Hammel, Dunbar to wed Sept. 27

Bethany Hammel of Dorchester and Eric Dunbar of East Dubuque, IL announce their engagement and upcoming wedding. They plan to exchange vows September 27 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Hanover in rural Waukon. A reception and dance will be held following the ceremony at the Fairgrounds Pavilion in Waukon.
The bride-elect is the daughter of David and Karla Hammel of Dorchester. She attended Waukon Senior High School and graduated from Loras College in 2009 with a degree in Criminal Justice. She is currently studying nursing at Northeast Iowa Community College in Peosta and is employed by Stonehill Franciscan Services in Dubuque.
The groom-elect is the son of Rhonda and the late Jack Dunbar of East Dubuque, IL. He attended East Dubuque High School and is now the owner of Dunbar Enterprises.

Thomas, Stone to wed Sept. 27

Emily Thomas and Brandon Stone, both of Marion, announce their engagement and upcoming wedding. They plan to exchange vows September 27 in Dubuque.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Stan and Carla Thomas of Dubuque. She is a 2005 graduate of Dubuque Hempstead High School and a 2009 graduate of Coe College, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree. She earned a Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Iowa in 2011 and is currently employed as a physical therapist at Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton.
The groom-elect is the son of Tim and Wendy Stone of Waukon. He is a 2005 graduate of Kee High School in Lansing and a 2010 graduate of Mount Mercy University with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. He is currently employed as a Linn County Sheriff’s Deputy.
The couple plans to honeymoon in St. Lucia in November.

Andersons to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary

Gladwin and Darlene Anderson will celebrate 60 years of marriage September 20 with a Mass at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon followed by a family dinner at their home in Waukon.
Gladwin Anderson and Darlene Sweeney were married September 20, 1954 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon.
They have five children, including one daughter, Vicki Post of El Segundo, CA, and four sons, Scott (Joan) and Joel (Mary), both of Waukon, Lon (Cathy) of Rosemount, MN) and Craig (Lisa) of Charles City. They also have 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Emmet and Bernadine Jones to celebrate 60th anniversary

Emmet and Bernadine (Hartong) Jones of Lansing will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary October 3 and plan to mark the occasion with a family dinner and card shower. They were married October 3, 1954 in Mauston, WI.
They have nine children, Debra (Patrick) McGeough, Mary (Tim) Kelly, Rod (Rita) Jones, Dennis Jones (deceased), Diane (Marvin) Cunningham, Ellen (Kevin) Krousie, Paula (Roger) Goeke, Wanda (Patrick) Schellsmidt and Bruce Jones. They also have 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
