Thea Meyer, Austin Troendle to exchange vows May 7

Don and Mary Meyer and Jeremy and Lana Troendle, all of Waukon, announce the engagement and upcoming wedding of their children, Thea Meyer and Austin Troendle, both of Waukon. The couple will exchange vows Saturday, May 7, 2022 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon.

The bride-to-be is a 2015 graduate of Waukon High School and a 2018 graduate of Upper Iowa University in Fayette with her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She is a first grade teacher at St. Patrick School in Waukon.

The groom-to-be is a 2013 graduate of Waukon High School and a 2017 graduate of Coe College in Cedar Rapids with Bachelor’s degrees in Athletic Training and Strength & Conditioning. He also earned his Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from Clarke University in Dubuque in 2020. He is a physical therapist/athletic trainer at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon.

Amber and Andrew Sandvick of Navarre, FL announce the birth of their daughter, Emma Rose Sandvick, born March 27, 2022 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, FL. She weighed 8 lbs. 14 ozs. and measured 21 inches in length at the time of her birth. She joins siblings, Oliver (4) and Ivy (2).

Grandparents are Dean and Mary Jackson of Waukon, John and Mollie Wetherill of Norwalk, OH and Jerry and Karen Sandvick of Navarre, FL. Edith Johnson of Spring Grove, MN is a great-grandparent.

Seth and Brittany Bulman of Dorchester announce the birth of their daughter, Hayden Marie Bulman, born April 17, 2022 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. She weighed 10 lbs. and measured 21 inches in length at the time of her birth. She joins sisters, Hailey Grace (5) and Harper Ann (2).

Grandparents are Don and Deb Burrichter of New Albin and David and Connie Bulman of Dorchester. Great-grandparents are Harriet Instefjord of Verona, WI, Grace Bulman of Eitzen, MN, Marylou Burrichter of Eitzen, MN, and Dale and Elaine Reiser of Dorchester.

Soil Management and Land Valuation Conference is May 18

Topics will include an agricultural economy outlook, weather and its impact and rising input costs

Record high commodity prices, crop inputs and land values are topics that will drive discussion at the 94th annual Soil Management and Land Valuation Conference, May 18 in Ames.

The average acre of Iowa farmland increased nearly 30% last year, according to results of the Iowa State University Land Value Survey, released in November. Many variables continue to change in today’s agricultural landscape and will be part of the discussion.

This year’s conference will be offered in person at Iowa State University’s Scheman Building from 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., as well as virtually via Zoom.

Troendle was selected from a Queen court that also consisted of fellow seniors Faith Boland, Lydia Corwin, Ashton Kolsrud and Cheyanne Troendle. Waukon High School seniors Hannah Teslow (left) and Vicente Quiroz (right) were selected as the 2022 Waukon High School Prom Queen and King at the annual event held Saturday, April 23. Teslow was selected from a Queen court that also consisted of fellow seniors Emily Bieber, Madelyn Helgerson, Hailey Houg and Morgan Stortz. Quiroz was chosen from a King court that also included fellow seniors Jaden Hager, Elliot Kooiker, Hunter O’Neill and Lincoln Snitker.

Farm Credit Services of America donates to Building New Traditions Campaign ...

Farm Credit Services of America has made a $12,500 donation to the Building New Traditions Campaign at the Allamakee County Fairgrounds in Waukon, $10,000 of which was grant funding awarded through the agency. The Building New Traditions Campaign is dedicated toward constructing a new, larger all-species youth livestock show barn centrally located at the Allamakee County Fairgrounds, a project that also involves relocation, elimination and transformation of some of the other livestock buildings at the Fairgrounds.
