Police report

During the month of January, the Postville Police Department issued 29 traffic warnings, 8 other and parking warnings, 28 traffic citations, 11 parking citations, 8 accident reports, and 10 incident reports.
Fines collected in January were: Allamakee County $580.80; vehicle inspections $280.00; for a total of $860.80 in fines collected.
Traffic tickets included: expired registration, no DL, stopping on roadway, no insurance, speeding, driving while suspended, child seatbelt, white light to rear, unsafe backing, and failure to yield from stop sign.

Diane Ellis

Funeral services for Diane Ellis were held Friday, February 11, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church at Postville, Iowa. The Reverend Allen Hermeier officiated. Special music was provided by Joann Martins, organist and Kim Schutte, soloist. The Casket Bearers were: Roger Bollman, Daryl Szabo, Kevin Ellis, Kent Ellis, Jeff Lange, Jim Bursell, Loren Eberling, and Honorary Casket Bearers were: Linda Szabo, Brenda Bostrom, Julie Dahlen, Joni Ohloff, Danny Bollman, Steve Lange, Sandy Eberling.

Schutte named to Dean's List at ISU

Bryan Schutte, son of Sandy Caya of St. Olaf and Gary Schutte of Castalia, has been named to the Dean's List at Iowa State University. A graduate of Postville High School, Schutte is a sophomore at the University. (Schutte's name was inadvertently omitted from the list of students named to the Dean's List in last week's paper. The Herald-Leader regrets the error.)

Szabos to celebrate 50 years of marriage

Eugene and Jean Szabo will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, Feb. 26. An open house will be held at the Zion Lutheran Church basement in Castalia from 2-4 p.m. It will be hosted by their children and grandchildren. No invitations are being sent out and the couple requests no gifts. All family and friends are invited.

Radloff and Herdlicka exchange vows

Kristie Radloff and Tim Hrdlicka, both of Sumner, were united in marriage on November 6, 2004, in Postville, Iowa. Kristie is the daughter of Bob and Nancy Radloff of Postville. Tim is the son of Jim and Linda Hrdlicka of Lawler.
Pastor Christopher Staley performed the 4 p.m. ceremony at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville.

Mayor John Hyman presented a plaque to Mark Seegmiller for his over 20 years of service to the City of Postville.
Leigh Rekow of Postville has announced his candidacy for State Representative for District 32 on the Republican ticket.
Four Postville wrestlers will be competing in the state meet next week. They are Tony Stumbo, Brad Snitker, Mark Mueller and Jarrod Olson.

Dull accepted at Luther

DECORAH, Iowa Jon Lund, Luther College vice president for enrollment, has announced that Angie Dull of Postville, Iowa, has been accepted for admission to Luther for the 2005-06 academic year. Dull received an Academic Achievement Award. A senior at Postville High School, Angie is the daughter of Dave and Donna Dull.
Luther is a selective four-year college located in northeast Iowa. The college has an enrollment of 2,600 students and offers a liberal arts education leading to the bachelor of arts degree in 60 majors and pre-professional programs.
