Rachel and Ian Kemp of Decorah announce the birth of their daughter, Alayna Louise Kemp, born September 23, 2018 at Mayo Clinic Hospital in Rochester, MN. She weighed 4 lbs. 11 ozs. and measured 17-1/2 inches in length at the time of her birth. She joins a sister, Maci (4).

Grandparents are Steve and Amy Marlow of Independence and Tom and Judy Kemp of Decorah. Great-grandparents are Cyril and Shirley Larkin of Waukon, and Jan and Al Kemp-Isen and the late Louis Kemp of Harpers Ferry.

Jacob Jannsen and Morgan Stegen of Waukon announce the birth of their son, Judah Sylvan Jannsen, born October 9, 2018 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. He weighed 7 lbs. 8 ozs. and measured 20-1/2 inches in length at the time of his birth. He joins a brother, Elijah (3).

Grandparents are Jeff and Janet Jannsen of Waukon, Mikki Stegen of Lansing and Marty Stegen of Greencastle, PA. Great-grandparents are Wayne Johnson of Waukon, Denis and Marlene Welch of Lansing and Lela and Carol Blagsvedt of Houston, MN.

The family of Connie Luster will be hosting an open house celebration in honor of her 90th birthday Saturday, October 13 from 12-3 p.m. The open house will be held at the Legion Hall in Harpers Ferry.

An open house birthday celebration in honor of Carlton Christianson’s 80th birthday is scheduled for Saturday, October 20 from 1-4 p.m. at the Farmers and Merchants Savings Bank basement meeting room located at 201 West Main in Waukon. Everyone is invited to attend.
 

Jon and Serene Thorstenson announce the birth of their daughter, Elsa Sophia Thorstenson, born October 13, 2017 in Shanghai, P.R. China. She weighed 9 lbs. 3.3 ozs. and measured 20-1/2 inches in length at the time of her birth. Elsa will be baptized October 14, 2018. Sponsors are Darren and Kelly O’Connor.

Grandparents are Virgil and Debbie Thorstenson of Monona and Zhao Rongqiang and Gu Chengying of Shanghai.

Tanner Hartema and Sharai Keough of Waukon announce the birth of their daughter, Athena Lucille Hartema, born October 1, 2018 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. She weighed 7 lbs. 14 ozs. and measured 20-3/4 inches in length at the time of her birth. She joins siblings, Brayden (8), Adelita (5) and Sawyer (2).

Heath and Kelsie Dee of Waukon announce the birth of their son, Wyatt Jacob Dee, born September 25, 2018 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. He weighed 7 lbs. 8 ozs. and measured 20-1/2 inches in length at the time of his birth.

Brian (Terry) LaRue of Decorah and Teri Gaustad of Brownsville, MN, parents of the bride-to-be, and Neal and Debbie Steiber of Lansing, parents of the groom-to-be, announce the engagement and upcoming wedding of Kimberly R. LaRue and Ross N. Steiber.

The couple will exchange vows Saturday, October 13 in a ceremony to be held in the barn they renovated themselves on their farm in rural Lansing with a reception to follow at TJ Hunter’s Banquet Hall in Lansing. The couple is planning to honeymoon in Punta Cana.

The bride-to-be is a 2004 graduate of Decorah High School and is employed as a Float Dispensing Optician for Gundersen Eye Clinics.

The groom-to-be is a 2003 graduate of Kee High School in Lansing and is employed as an Instrumental and Control Technician at Alliant Energy and also farms at the couple’s home near Lansing.
