Obituaries are published in The Standard for a $45 fee and can be brought to the office at 15 First Street NW in Waukon, mailed to PO Box 286, Waukon IA 52172, or e-mailed to news@waukonstandard.com. Photos may be included for an additional charge of $15 (additonal photos are also $15). Obituaries of excessive length (longer than our single-column length of 15.5") will also incur an additional charge of $11/column inch for the content measuring longer than our 15.5-inch column length. Richard L. “Butch” Winke, 80, of Waukon, died Saturday, December 27, 2014 at his home in rural Waukon. Memorial services will be held Friday, January 2 at 11 a.m. at Zalmona Presbyterian Church in rural Waukon with Pastor Tom Buresh officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Zalmona Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-5 p.m. Thursday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon.

Greg “Rosie” Rosendahl, 61, of Waukon, lost his battle with cancer Sunday, December 28, 2014 at his home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 3 at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon with Rev. Lynn G. Groe officiating. Donald “Jim” Hyde

Donald “Jim” J. Hyde, 76, of New Albin, formerly of Dubuque, died Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, WI. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, December 31 at 11 a.m. at the Edgewood City Cemetery, Edgewood. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon is handling the arrangements.

Mike Lechnir passed unexpectedly at his home and long time family farm December 20, 2014. He was born in Luana. He was 76 and is survived by a son, one grandson and two granddaughters. There will be a gathering January 3 at his home.

Carrieanne L. Larson, 41, of Waukon, died Thursday, December 25, 2014 at her home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 31 at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Waukon with Pastor Grant VanderVelden officiating. Burial will be at Frankville Cemetery, Frankville.

Horace Magnusson

Horace Kenneth Magnusson, 95, of Lansing, died Sunday, December 21, 2014 at Gundersen Health System, La Crosse, WI. He was born  February 22, 1919 to Herman and Mattie (Carlyle) Magnusson in Lansing. Horace graduated from Lansing High School and attended Luther College.
Horace joined the United States Navy November 18, 1944, serving in World War II, where he learned the trade to become an electrician. He was honorably discharged  October 16, 1945. Horace was united in marriage with Edith Rose Roeder in 1940; she passed away in 1959. He then married Amber Rutter  June 16, 1963 at Freeman Church, rural Ferryville, WI.

Lyle E. DeBower, age 85, of Decorah, died Thursday evening, December 18, 2014 at Aase Haugen Senior Services in Decorah.
Funeral Services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 30 at First Lutheran Church in Decorah with Rev. Chad Huebner officiating. Burial was at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Allison Cemetery in Allison with full military honors.

David Clarke

David Howard Clarke, age 67, formerly of Waukon, died peacefully at his home in Mocksville, NC  December 14, 2014.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, of Mocksville; his mother, Clarice Olga Balk of Eastman, WI; a brother, James, of Waukon; a brother, Charlie, of Ferryville; and a sister, Susie of Eastman, WI.
Brother Clarke served in the full-time ministry for forty years throughout the central United States and parts of the South.
A Memorial service will be held January 4 at 2 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Waukon.
