David and Karla Hammel of Dorchester and Richard and Debra Preston of Guttenberg announce the engagement and upcoming wedding of their children, Shelby Hammel and Matthew Preston. The couple plans to exchange vows January 31 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon. A reception and dance will be held following the ceremony at the Waukon Banquet Center.
The bride-elect is a 2010 graduate of Waukon Senior High School and studied Dairy Science at Northeast Iowa Community College. She is currently employed at Pattison Dairy of Garnavillo.
The groom-elect is a 2008 graduate of Clayton Ridge High School and completed the John Deere Ag Tech program at Northeast Iowa Community College. He is currently employed at Bodensteiner’s in Elkader.

Dave and Cheryl Brandt of Waukon announce the engagement and upcoming wedding of their son, Jason Brandt, to Bailey Henry, daughter of Rusty and Teresa Henry of Earlham. The couple plans to exchange vows May 29 in Des Moines.
The bride-elect is a 2007 graduate of Winterset Senior High School and a 2012 graduate of the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in Biology: Biomedical Emphasis. She is currently a graduate student at Creighton University working towards a master’s degree in Public Health Service Administration.
The groom-elect is a 2006 graduate of Waukon Senior High School and a 2010 graduate of the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in Accounting and Management Information Systems. He is currently employed as an auditor at Athene in West Des Moines.

Dana and Derek Johnson of Rochester, MN announce the birth of their son, Victor Wesley Johnson, December 11, 2014 at Olmsted Medical Center in Rochester, MN. He weighed 7 lbs., 8 ozs. and measured 20 inches in length at the time of his birth. He joins a sister, Hattie Lynn (2-1/2).
Grandparents are Dennis and Linda DeBuhr of Waukon and Tom and Jan Johnson of Okoboji. Great-grandmother is Betty DeBuhr of Waukon.

Colbey and Craig Decker of Oxford, OH announce the birth of their son, Noah Vincent Decker, January 2, 2015 in Oxford, OH. He weighed 6 lbs., 1 oz. and measured 18-1/2 inches in length at the time of his birth. He joins a brother, Milan (3).
Grandparents are Craig and Amy Wiemerslage of New Albin, Janelle Wiemerslage and Randy Peterson of DeSoto, WI and Gayle and Carol Decker of Waukon. Great-grandfather is Vincent Haas of Waukon.

Joel Scherf and Kelsey Schlueter of Waterville announce the birth of their daughter, Vanessa Viola Scherf, January 5, 2015 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. She weighed 6 lbs., 7.2 ozs. and measured 21 inches in length at the time of her birth. She joins a sister, Kaylei (22 months), and three half-sisters, Ashlee (18), Lexi (14) and Jenna (10).
Grandparents are Lloyd and JoAnn Scherf of Harpers Ferry and Martha and Troy Thein of Elkader.

Michelle Scott and Mitchel Rogers of Cascade announce the birth of their twin children, Allie Marie Rogers and Jaxson Thomas Rogers, January 2, 2015 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. Allie weighed 3.4 lbs. and measured 16 inches in length at the time of her birth; Jaxson weighed 3.14 lbs. and measured 17-1/2 inches in length at the time of his birth. They join two siblings, Cheyanne Caldwell (12) and Kayden Scott (6).
Grandparents are Tonya and Ricky Delatorre of Postville and John and Annette Rogers of Cascade.

Danielle Hackett of Harpers Ferry and Caleb Ferring of Waukon were joined in marriage June 21, 2014 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon with Father James Dubert and Msgr. Ed Lechtenberg presiding.
The bride is the daughter of Becky and the late Brent Hackett of Harpers Ferry. Her grandparents are Don and Trudy Hackett of Marquette and Frank and Sandy McMillin of McGregor. She is a 2010 graduate of Waukon Senior High School and expects to graduate from the University of Iowa in May of 2016 with a degree in Radiation Sciences. She is currently employed by the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics as a part-time phlebotomist and as a youth counselor at James Van Allen Elementary.

Annie Olson and Ben Butler of Grinnell were joined in marriage November 8, 2014 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Ames by Father Jon Seda.
Parents of the bride are Mick and Mary Olson of Postville; the bride’s grandparents are Bob and the late Bernadine Heffern and Milton and Donna Mae Olson. Parents of the groom are Bryan and Linda Butler of Ankeny.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore an Allure Bridals embellished cutout lace gown. The fit-and-flare silhouette was detailed with Swarovski crystal beading at the empire waist and at the hem. The gown featured elegant buttons down the back into a chapel-length train. She wore a waist-length veil that was previously worn by the sisters of the groom for their weddings.
