Waukon Boy Scout Troop 64 preparing for Fall Omelet Breakfast

The members of Waukon Boy Scout Troop 64 pictured above are preparing to host the Troop's Fall Omelet Breakfast Sunday, October 27 at St. Patrick Church Hall in Waukon. The Scouts will be serving made-to-order omelets from 7:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. along with hash browns, cinnamon rolls, juice, milk and coffee. Tickets can be purchased in advance at a discounted price from those purchased at the door the day of the event. Proceeds from this fundraiser assist the Scouts with summer camp and equipment needs.

Waukon Area Fire Protection District preparing for 119th Annual Ball

The Waukon Area Fire Protection District is asking Allamakee County residents to check their mail for the postcard pictured above which will contain details about the District's 119th Annual Ball Fundraiser scheduled for Wednesday, November 27. The mailer pictured above is being sent out to all Allamakee County residents in an effort to seek out donations in lieu of the firemen canvassing the area door-to-door to solicit ticket purchases/donations for the event, as in year's past.

Entries sought for Seventh Annual Lighted Holiday Parade scheduled for November 25

Plans are being made for the seventh annual Lighted Holiday Parade in downtown Waukon, scheduled for Monday, November 25, beginning at 6 p.m. The event coincides with extended Monday night business hours of Waukon retailers.
The theme for this year’s parade, “Walking in a Winter Wonderland,” complements the traditional Christmas Fantasy hosted by Veterans Memorial Health Care Foundation each year in Waukon, and will be featured throughout the parade. All entries must be lighted and cannot involve a live version of Santa Claus.

Allamakee Ecumenical Choir and Children's Choir to begin rehearsals October 20 for Christmas Festival

The Allamakee Ecumenical Choir will begin weekly rehearsals Sunday, October 20 at 7 p.m. in the balcony of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Waukon. Now in its 37th season, the Choir will prepare for a Christmas Festival of Lessons and Carols Service scheduled for Sunday, December 15 at 7 p.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon. Anyone in the community who would like to sing and participate is welcome to attend rehearsals and join in the festivities.

Rehearsals underway for ACPI's "Feudin', Fightin' and Fussin'" production scheduled for early November

Rehearsals are underway for the Allamakee Community Players production of "Feudin', Fightin' and Fussin'", a comedy by LeRoma Greth. The public is invited to join the Players for a trip to Polecat County with the smug Mrs. Lucius Q. Snodgrass and her distinguished assistant, William Bishop III.

Waukon Chamber of Commerce conducting Holiday Window Decorating Contest for businesses

This year the Waukon Chamber of Commerce will host its ‘First Annual Window Decorating Contest’ for the businesses of Waukon. It is asked that businesses stay in the context of a holiday theme and this year’s parade theme “Walking in a Winter Wonderland.”
Businesses who want to participate and have their window(s) “judged” in the contest are asked to notify the Waukon Chamber of Commerce at 563-568-4110 or at waukoncc@mchsi.com by Monday, November 18. The windows will be judged Monday, November 25 following the annual Holiday Parade.

Waukon Chamber of Commerce seeking nominations for awards to be presented at annual meeting scheduled for February

The Waukon Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations from community residents for awards to be presented at its annual banquet in February. Nominations are being accepted for awards including Years of Service, New Business of the Year, Business of the Year, Volunteer of the Year and Person of the Year honors.
The Chamber will bestow the honor upon more than one individual/group or local business fitting the following award’s criteria:

Second annual Fields of Faith event scheduled for October 9 in Waukon

Students, parents and community members are invited to join thousands of others on athletic fields all across the nation Wednesday, October 9 to share their Christian faith with each other during the eighth annual national Fields of Faith event. Although in existence nationwide for several years, the local Fields of Faith event in Waukon is being held for just its second year that same evening at the Waukon High School football field after a successful inaugural event last year that drew more than 400 local people.
