Birth announcement: Snitker

Andrew and Alex Snitker of Waukon announce the birth of their daughter, Claire Ann Snitker, September 2, 2015 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. She weighed 9 lbs., 13.4 ozs. and measured 23 inches in length at the time of her birth. She joins three siblings, Renae (4-1/2), Blake (3) and Alana (1).
Grandparents are Todd and Rhonda Snitker, Brenda Keatley and Rick Langland, all of Waukon. Great-grandparents are Larry and Sharon Snitker of Waukon, Karen Keatley of Waukon and Larry and Judy Warnke of Sumner. Great-great-grandmother is Jean Snitker of Postville.

Murray, McCormick exchange vows during July 11 ceremony

Kenzie Murray of Muscatine and Kale McCormick of Harpers Ferry were joined in marriage July 11, 2015 at St. Collumbkille’s Catholic Church in Dubuque.
The bride is the daughter of Hank and Dea Dea Murray of Muscatine. She is a 2011 graduate of Loras College with a degree in Special Education and Elementary Education. She is currently employed as a Special Education teacher at George Washington Middle School in Dubuque.
The groom is the son of Tom and Beth McCormick of Harpers Ferry. He is a 2010 graduate of Loras College with a degree in K-12 Physical Education, Health and Wellness. He is currently employed as a Health Education teacher at Thomas Jefferson Middle School in Dubuque.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride was attended by her Maid of Honor, Michelle Dahms, personal attendants Rachel Evans and Natalie Murray, and bridesmaids Shauna Murray, Kylie Franklin, Ellen Nicolau, Korine McCormick and Kendrin Geerdes.

Heim, Bjerke to wed October 3

Morgan Heim of New Albin and Shawn Bjerke of Waukon announce their engagement and upcoming wedding. They plan to exchange vows October 3 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dorchester. A reception and dance will follow the ceremony at the Fairgrounds Pavilion in Waukon.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Tom and Bev Heim of New Albin. She is a 2011 graduate of Waukon Senior High School and a 2014 graduate of Loras College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations. She is currently employed at Iowa State University Extension and Outreach in Waukon as the Allamakee County Youth Coordinator.
The groom-elect is the son of Bob and Cheryl Bjerke of Waukon. He is a 2007 graduate of Waukon Senior High School and a 2012 graduate of Northeast Iowa Community College with a technical degree in Wind Turbine Repair. He is currently employed by Alliant Energy as a Relief Plant Operator Apprentice in Lansing.

Harold and Donna Teff to celebrate 50th anniversary

Harold and Donna (Beneke) Teff of Savage, MN were married September 25, 1965 at Wilmington Lutheran Church in Caledonia, MN. They plan to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary the weekend after September 25 with their children and grandchildren.
Harry and Donna were residents of Waukon from the time of their marriage until 1993, when they relocated to the Twin Cities. Harry worked for Spiegler Auto and then for the City of Waukon as a mechanic. He was also a member of the Waukon Fire Department. Donna worked as the secretary of St. John’s Lutheran Church and at Veteran’s Memorial Hospital. Harry retired from the work force in 2010 and Donna is looking forward to retirement  from full-time work this fall.

Livingood reunion September 20

The annual reunion of the descendants of Edwin and Mathilda (Pechia) Livingood will be held in the Community Room of Farmers and Merchants Savings Bank in Waukon Sunday, September 20.
The meal will start at 12 noon. Those planning to attend are asked to bring a dish to pass for the potluck and table service. Drinks will be provided.
After lunch, those in attendance will be asked to tell stories beginning with “I remember...” Those who wish to write their stories down for someone else to read aloud are welcome to do so.
The Livingood Family Cookbooks will arrive for Thanksgiving.

WHS Class of 1955 reunion

Waukon High School’s  Class of 1955 will gather for its 60-year reunion the weekend of October 3. The schedule of events is:
Friday, October 2:
9 a.m. - Coffee at the S&D Café in Waukon.
5:30 p.m. -  Dinner at Gus and Tony’s in Waukon, where a room has been reserved.
Saturday, October 3:
1-4 p.m. - Lunch at Wings in Dorchester.
Sunday, October 4:
11 a.m.  - Breakfast/lunch at the S&D Café in Waukon.
All those affiliated with the Waukon High School Class of 1955 or who would like to visit with the class members are invited to attend any or all of these events. Those attending any of the above scheduled meals will be ordering off the menu.

Jeremy and Betsy Engrav of Waukon announce the birth of their daughter, Briar Marie Engrav, August 29, 2015 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. She weighed 7 lbs., 12.4 ozs. and measured 19-1/2 inches in length at the time of her birth. She joins three siblings, Brayden (7), Brecken (4) and Brantley (2).
Grandparents are Gary and Dawn Farley and Steve and Mary Engrav, all of Waukon. Great-grandparents are Iona Farley, DuWayne and Laurayne Snitker and Janette and Gerry Blong, all of Waukon, and Walter and Betty Engrav of Pea Ridge, AR.

Joel and Megan Hanson of Cedar Rapids announce the birth of their daughter, Mahayla Bernadine Hanson, August 12, 2015 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. She weighed 9 lbs., 3 ozs. and measured 21-1/2 inches in length at the time of her birth.
Grandparents are Mick and Mary Olson and Don and Janet Hanson of Postville.  Great-grandparents are Bob Heffern of Waukon and Edna Huinker of Ossian.
Mahayla was named after her great-great-grandmother, Mahala Radloff, and her great-grandmother, Bernadine Heffern.

Martin, Erb to wed October 10

Jeff and Lori Martin are pleased to announce the engagement and upcoming wedding of their daughter, Alison Martin, to Johnathan Erb, son of Jay and the late Judy Erb.
